No other information was given as to what caused the explosion, however, the resulting fire was contained and allowed to burn itself out.
Inherent Dangers in the Workplace
Most people that work in the oil and gas industry have an understanding about how dangerous the job can be. While this particular industry has come a long way in the past few decades regarding safety, accidents still happen. Oil and Gas are such a necessary commodity that sometimes safety can become an afterthought as the demand is met by workers in the industry. Now, it is the responsibility of the employer to provide a safe workplace and to keep guidelines and codes of conduct in place in an attempt to eliminate injuries on the job. A number of factors, however, can lead to situations where people can get hurt. Factors like relaxed rules, improper safety training, and inadequate personal protective equipment may contribute to a serious accident. While the reason that the gas line in this story exploded stays a mystery at this time, two people were harmed and may not be able to work for quite some time as they recover. Not only are the people who were injured affected, but if they were the sole breadwinners for their family, the entire unit will experience troubling times ahead.
