According to the Abilene Reporter-News, a man succumbed to the injuries he received in a wreck north of Snyder on Highway 84. About 13 miles north of Snyder in Scurry County, a semi-truck hit a pickup parked on the side of the highway. The vehicle was disabled and was on the shoulder. Texas DPS identified the man in the pickup as 40-year-old Benigno Gil from Lubbock. An air ambulance took Gil to the University Medical Center in Lubbock; however, he lost his life due to the injuries. Both of the vehicles were ignited and caught fire during the wreck. 

The driver of the pickup parked on the shoulder was also taken to the same hospital; however, he was listed as having incapacitating injuries by the DPS. A third passenger received non-incapacitating injuries and was taken to Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder. 

DPS identified the driver of the semi-truck as Keith Henry from Abilene, who was also taken to the hospital in Lubbock to be treated for his injuries.
