Two Children Killed in Interstate Accident
According to San Angelo Live, a car crash claimed the lives of two sisters on March 2 according to Abilene Chief of Police Stan Standridge near mile marker 20 in Abilene. The first wreck occurred with a utility vehicle who lost its rear axle which resulted in the second crash which is the one that killed the two girls. An 18-wheeler abruptly stopped to avoid the wreck which caused a black minivan to halt and keep from rear-ending the 18-wheeler suddenly. A full-size pickup truck slammed into the back of the van which caused massive damage to the vehicle. Tragically, two young girls were sitting in the minivan and died as a result of the accident. The mother of the two girls who was driving the minivan was transported to the Hendrick Medical Center with severe injuries
The names of the girls and the mother have not been released. However, it has been stated that the family is local and from the surrounding area in Abilene. Abilene police are waiting to release the names until the next of kin has been notified.
