Jackknife Truck Accident Leads to Elderly Fatality
This October has been a month for rain. While it’s a blessing to some, it can be a detriment to others. According to an article on the Big Country Homepage website, an 86-year-old man was killed and an 84-year-old passenger went to the hospital with critical injuries. In a DPS statement, Billy Joy Bennett of Brownwood was pronounced dead at the scene of a semi-truck wreck about a mile east of Santa Anna in Coleman County. At around midday, on October 15th, a semi-truck jackknifed in the road while traveling east and went over into the other lane. Bennett’s Towncar and one other vehicle was struck by the errant big rig. There were two people in the third vehicle involved in the truck accident and they were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The truck driver was also taken to the hospital in stable condition. DPS is still investigating the cause of the accident.
